Isabella was a perfectly normal 2 year old. She loves to paint, be outside playing in the dirt with frogs, swing, and being naked in her swimming pool. She loves her baby dolls, puppy, kitties, kick ball, having her nails painted, and riding real live ‘horsies.’
Last October Isabella became sick. The symptoms were nothing out of the ordinary but it warranted a trip to the ER. Four long and hard days later on November 4th, her parents were told the devastating news that no parent deserves to hear: Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, more commonly known as ALL cancer. A bone marrow aspiration finally confirmed the families worst fear. Heart broken and very fearful, the family (with the guidance and grace of the Heavenly Father) and the doctors came up with a treatment plan which began right away. Isabella was strong and she has fought back. On December 10th she was declared in remission!
Isabella is now close to reaching the maintenance stage of treatment in her 2 ½ year plan, but she has not had an easy go of it lately. She recently suffered some of the worst side effects of harsh chemo that no one should have to endure. She is still healing from a bacterial skin infection which required surgically removing a good sized area of skin and tissue. Chemo patients do not heal like a normal healthy person does. This has been a battle within a battle for Isabella and her parents.
Through smiles, and thinking this is how childhood is for every kid, she perseveres, picks herself up, and goes about her life. She fights like a girl….and a girl can fight hard when she needs to! With much prayer being lifted up from family, friends, and even strangers, God will heal Isabella in His time and all the Glory will be given to Him! She is our Bald, Brave, and Beautiful Isabella.
